Hot House was born in jam sessions in the 1980's. Guest artists Mike Marshall, Darol Anger, Dave Balakrishnan and John Reischman (David Grisman Quintet; Turtle Island Quartet) helped us define our membership. Founder Bill DeKuiper chose a name that referred to the Hot Jazz of the 1920's and 30's from which the band took it's cue. The influence of Count Basie, Bennie Goodman, Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grapelley, Fats Waller, Charlie Christian, Cootie Williams, Lester Young et al further reveals our philosophical heritage. Eclectic instrumentation including jazz violin enabled the band to recreate traditional jazz in an original way.Type your paragraph here.
